Side by Side (Chris Kenneally 2012)

The documentary was about the Film Industry and how they moved from Film cartridges and cutting an splicing the actual film to filming digitally and editing digitally. The film itself was the from the view of people from the Film Industry and if they liked moving to digital or staying on the film, and their reasons some being they hate it as they grew with watching film and they prefer the preservation they can do with film and how long the cartridges last for without being touched for ages unlike digital as they can seize up and become useless. The film also talked about the viewing of the movie in cinemas and how its more efficient for them to use digital as they can get more showings of a movie which equals more money.

I learnt that George Lucas was one of the first people to go digital as he thought it was the future and they way he saw it film was at its peak and couldn't go any further but digital is at its very bottom of where it could go and the more we use it the better it can get and that he will never go back to film. When he first started using digital he was frowned on as the the Film Industry thought he was going to ruin it all.

Also I never Knew that we still film using film as I thought it was all done digital. a could of films that were done with this was The Hunger Games and Batman The Dark Knight.
