Hip-Hop originated in the early 1970s (1973 to be precise) in
New York, USA. It was founded by DJ Kool Herc and his sister Cindy.
Hip-Hop was first commercially available in 1979 with a song
called “King Tim III (Personality Jock” by the Fatback band, but it was pushed
to the B Side of the tape, but was pushed to the A Side due to being popular
and was played in clubs and it was in the Top 30 of the R&B Charts.
Since then, history was made, as Hip-Hop grew, especially in
the 90s with the rise of artists and groups such as Tupac, Biggie Smalls, NWA
etc. in California, especially the city of Compton, which was a dangerous place
to live due to gun crime, police brutality etc.
White artists such as Eminem are extremely popular in the
early 2000s, and the rise of artists like G-Eazy, Macklemore etc. in the late
2000s to early 2010s, and Hip-Hop has been a popular genre, but still booming
to this day. Some of its roots still exist to this day from the 90s, with
Eminem, Dr. Dre and Kendrick Lamar still releasing music. However, a lot of
different types of Hip-Hop exist, such as Conscious Hip-Hop, known as the
“Storytelling” hip-hop, Emo Hip-Hop with artists like Lil Peep, which uses
influences from the early 2000s rise of Emo bands like MCR and FOB and Trap
which is a more upbeat simplistic hip-hop with artists like Lil Pump, which has
been growing in the SoundCloud community since the end of 2016, and that’s just
to name a few.
